Q: Where did you study as an undergraduate? What was your major(s)?

I majored in History at Oberlin College.

Q: What do you like about UNC’s graduate program in Russian and East European Studies?

Flexibility in what courses could be taken, could incorporate interests in tech and other disciplines. Access to new languages like Czech.

Q: Why did you choose to specialize in this region of the globe?

Academic interests since undergraduate married with our country’s need for people with this kind of specialized knowledge.

Q: Do you have work and/or study experience in the region?

No.

Q: What are your research interests?

Political philosophy at the turn of the 20th century, disinformation, Soviet Art.

Q: What would you like to do after you graduate?

Work for the government, or potentially consulting.

Q: What are your hobbies? What do you like doing in your free time?

Drawing, hiking, and video games.
