Film Screening and Discussion • Empathy in Documentary Films

March 26 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

How can empathy be sparked through short socially engaging documentary films? How to open up a dialog about themes not talked about enough in our societies with character-based emotional stories?

The UNC Forum on Southeast Europe is pleased to host a conversation with Ivana Todorovic, a filmmaker and writer based in Belgrade, Serbia. Her films have been shown in numerous international film festivals, including Berlinale, Rotterdam IFF, Sarajevo Film Festival, Dokufest, Palm Springs Shorts Fest and have collectively won over 40 awards. Her films have been acquired by The New York Times, Aeon Films in the US and Afterposten in Norway, and have screened at the Anthology Film Archive in New York, New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Cultura de Contemporania de Barcelona, Spain.
