Carolina Seminar • Communist Prague: Life in the Gray Zone

February 16, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Cynthia Paces is a professor of modern European history at the College of New Jersey. She is the author of Prague Panoramas: National Memory and Sacred Space in the Twentieth Century (U. of Pittsburgh Press, 2009), where she investigates the relationship of public art to national politics in Czechoslovakia.

The seminar series is co-sponsored by the Carolina Seminar Program, the UNC Department of History, and the UNC Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies. Please note that the participants will give an overview of their projects, but will not read a formal paper. Instead, papers or book chapters will be circulated ahead of time to those who are interested in attending and participating in the discussion. Please contact Dr. Eren Tasar for more information (etasar@email.unc.edu).
