Body W/O Borders is a play by Turkish-German playwright Özlem Özgül Dündar, translated by Henning Bochert, dealing with the stories of migrant Turkish workers who came to Germany in the fifties and sixties.

Özlem Özgül Dündar, born in Solingen in 1983, writes poetry, prose, scenic texts, and essays, performs with her collectives “Kanak Attak Leipzig” and the “Ministerium für Mitgefühl/Ministry for Compassion,” and works as an editor and translator. In 2015, she was awarded the Retzhofer Dramapreis for her play Jardin d’Istanbul. Most recently, she received the Kelag Prize in Klagenfurt and the Rolf Dieter Brinkmann Fellowship 2018. Her poetry collection gedanken zerren (2018) was published by Elif Verlag.

Henning Bochert works as a writer, lecturer, dramaturg, and translator in Berlin. Since 2007, he is a board member of raum4 – netzwerk für künstlerische alltagsbewältigung e. V., and since 2009, of Drama Panorama: Forum for Translation and Theater e. V., an international platform for theater translators. He is a member of the ver.di union, of the German Translators Association (BDÜ), of the Association of German Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works (VdÜ), of the Weltlesebühne, of the theater writers union VTheA, and of The Fence. From 2014-2019, he was a member of the German committee of the European network for drama in translation Eurodram.

Sanjana Taskar (she/her) – is a second year graduate student in the Professional Actors Training Program partnered with PlayMakers Repertory Company here at Carolina. She previously worked as a professional actor in the Baltimore / DMV area. Recent roles include Ophelia in Hamlet (PlayMakers Repertory Company), Jane Fairfax in Emma (PRC), and Jo March in Kate Hamill’s Little Women (Virginia Theatre Festival)
