The Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies invites interested scholars, researchers, and other professionals with a Ph.D. or professional equivalent to apply to the CSEEES Fellows Program, designed to support and facilitate the advancement of scholarly research and teaching about Russia, Eurasia, and East Europe. This is a two-year affiliation (with the possibility of renewal).

CSEEES Fellows benefit from the academic community and research opportunities available at UNC-Chapel Hill, as well as from practical support from the Center. Fellows are entitled to:

  • On-campus and electronic access to UNC-CH’s library resources, including our vast Slavic and East European Collections
  • Use of office space and computer access at the Center
  • Opportunities to present their research to faculty and students
  • A UNC E-mail account
  • A UNC OneCard (University ID Card)

Those interested in applying should submit a current CV and a cover letter to cseees@unc.edu. The cover letter should state a proposed research project and how the applicant plans on using the resources offered at UNC-Chapel Hill to complete or advance the project. In addition, the applicant should describe how he/she plans on engaging with the CSEEES affiliated faculty and students during his/her tenure. We particularly encourage applications from colleagues in the region.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If selected, applicants are required to pay a $300 administrative fee. For those interested in a semester- or yearlong affiliation as visiting scholars (which would require visa support), please contact us with questions about the application procedure and fees.

For all other questions about the Fellows Program, please contact Adnan Džumhur, CSEEES Associate Director.
