Where did you study as an undergraduate? What was your major(s)?

I attended the University of North Georgia for my undergraduate studies. I graduated with a BS in Criminal Justice. Prior to enrolling at UNC-CH, I received an MA from the University of Oklahoma. My degree was in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in International Relations.

What do you like about UNC’s graduate program in Russian and East European Studies?

The professors and staff make UNC’s graduate program in Russian and East European Studies excellent. I’ve enjoyed attending seminars here immensely, the language component, and the ability to focus studies on my interests in the area.

Why did you choose to specialize in this region of the globe?

I currently serve in the US Army as a Foreign Area Officer in training (FAO). My regional focus is in Europe and Eurasia.

Do you have work and/or study experience in the region?

I spent the last year working at the US Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.

What are your research interests?

My research interests revolve around security studies and the history of the region.

What would you like to do after you graduate?

I will continue to serve in the US Army, hopefully in the arena of defense cooperation or as a military attaché at an embassy.

What are your hobbies? What do you like doing in your free time?

I enjoy spending my free time with my family. My hobbies include traveling, reading, and golfing.

What is your favorite visual reminder of the region and why?

My favorite reminders of the region are family vacation photos from our travels last year.
