The Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking to fill two appointments for superior and innovative instructors to teach Russian language courses coordinated by the Russian Flagship Program Director.

These will be one-year non-tenure-track positions (Teaching Assistant Professors) with option to renew, to begin on July 1, 2021. The successful candidates will each carry a full-time, 3/3 teaching load; duties will involve teaching and university service.

Master of Arts (or foreign equivalent) in Slavic languages and literatures or closely related field, required by July 1, 2021. Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English required.

Candidates are expected to have familiarity with communicative methods and technologies used in teaching the Russian language at the college level, including online and hybrid (face-to-face and online) language pedagogy.

At the time of application, candidates will also be required to identify the names, titles, and email addresses of three professional references, two of whom must be prepared to discuss the applicant’s Russian-language teaching in detail.
