The Professional Pathways Fellowship is a new initiative led by the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies (CSEEES) at UNC Chapel Hill and Women of Color Promoting Peace, Security and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS). This program aims to bridge the gap between academia and practice in cultural diplomacy, global security, and area studies. It focuses on supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) in North Carolina.

Fellowship Objectives:

  • Applied Learning & Professional Skills Development: Organize workshops or events to apply academic knowledge in practical ways.
  • Support Student Career Development: Provide career resources for faculty, students, and alumni at HBCUs and MSIs, including industry trends and job strategies.
  • Build Professional Networks: Facilitate mentorship and career growth by connecting students with professionals in relevant fields.
  • Encourage Community Engagement: Develop projects leveraging the Center’s resources for community benefit.
  • Enrich Knowledge Exchange: Host workshops and lectures to foster knowledge sharing between academics and practitioners.

Fellowship Details:

  • Duration: Up to 3 months, with time spent at UNC Chapel Hill.
  • Benefits: $5,000 stipend, domestic travel expenses, UNC Visiting Scholar status, and full access to UNC’s library and resources.

Application Requirements:

  • CV: Detailed academic and professional background.
  • Cover Letter: 2-page letter outlining your academic background, qualifications, and contributions to fellowship objectives.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation: From individuals familiar with your academic/professional experience and leadership potential.
  • Sample of Academic or Professional Work: Relevant work that demonstrates your expertise.
  • Proposed Timeline: Outline fellowship activities and time at UNC Chapel Hill.
