September 5, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Recent series of economic, security, and political crises culminating in the UK decision to exit the European Union have sparked a new round of discussions on the EU’s future. This talk will examine the stakes in the most recent attempts to reform the European Union. It will review both the agenda for and means toward a more resilient EU against the backdrop of latest political changes across Europe and rising multitude of political preferences within Central European EU member states.

Vladimír Bilčík heads the EU program at the Research Centre of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (RC SFPA) and lectures on European integration and international relations in the Department of Political Science at Comenius University in Bratislava. In the past he advised representative of the Slovak government in the Convention on the Future of Europe (2002 – 2003). His research focuses on post-communist EU member states, European foreign and security policy, and post-Brexit EU. His most recent publication on “Slovak EU Council Presidency: In Defence of Post-Brexit” can be accessed here

This talk is made possible by a University Studies Grant from the International Visegrad Fund.
