Polish Week • Poland, Europe, and the World

A special presentation by the Ambassador of Poland to the United States and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Dessert reception to follow.


Ambassador Piotr Wilczek received his Ph.D. (1992) and Habilitation (2001) from the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. As a prolific literary scholar, intellectual historian, and translator, he was the founding director of Collegium Artes Liberales (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), where he also chaired the Center for the Study of the Reformation and Intellectual Culture in Early-Modern Europe. He authored and edited 22 published monographs and more than 100 journal articles which appeared in Poland, the UK, and the United States, both in English and Polish. Prior to his diplomatic appointment in 2016, he was Representative in Poland of the New York-based Kosciuszko Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to educational, cultural, and artistic exchanges between the United States and Poland.


This event is part of the Polish Week at UNC (March 26-29), co-sponsored by the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies, Carolina Center for Jewish Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, Center for European Studies, Program in Global Cinema Studies, Department of German and Slavic Languages and Literatures, Department of History, Department of Women’s and Gender Studies, Department of Music, and the Program in Global Cinema Studies.
