Eren Tasar, Assistant Professor of History, will present on “Central Asian Islam during the Brezhnev Era: Surprising Findings.”
Eren Tasar is a historian of modern Central Asia in the Department of History at UNC Chapel Hill. He studied at Stanford and Harvard universities. Before coming to Carolina he served on the faculty of the Indiana University School of Liberal Arts in Indianapolis. His book manuscript, Soviet and Muslim: the Institutionalization of Islam in Central Asia, 1943-1991, is currently under consideration at Oxford University Press.
