Carolina Seminar • Russian Orthodox Pilgrims in Palestine

January 16 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Luke Jeske is primarily a scholar of the Russian Empire, whose history he researches and teaches from global perspectives. He is particularly interested in exploring themes of religion, mobility, nationalism, and empire, which illuminate how historical actors from a variety of backgrounds participated in shaping their present and our past. Luke Jeske will present a draft chapter of his dissertation on Russian Orthodox Pilgrims in Palestine.

The seminar series is co-sponsored by the Carolina Seminar Program and the UNC Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies. Please note that the participants will give an overview of their projects, but will not read a formal paper. Instead, papers or book chapters will be circulated ahead of time to those who are interested in attending and participating in the discussion. Please contact Dr. Eren Tasar for more information (etasar@email.unc.edu).
