Carolina Seminar • Konstantin Ustinovich Chernenko’s Notes on America
February 11, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Donald J. Raleigh is an Emeritus Distinguished Professor of History at UNC Chapel Hill. His research and teaching interests focus on twentieth-century Russian history. As a political and social historian, he has published extensively on the Russian Revolution, with a particular emphasis on local history (the Saratov region). Access to long-sealed Soviet archives shaped his later work on the Russian civil war as did his interest in cultural history. Professor Raleigh is currently completing a biography of Soviet leader Leonid Ilich Brezhnev, who served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1964 until his death in 1982.
