A Geographer, a Sociologist, and a Historian Walk into a …: Comparing Approaches to Research

October 7, 2022 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Each academic discipline takes a different approach to what is considered appropriate research methods, what counts as data, and how to conduct and report research findings. Join us for a roundtable discussion to learn about how a Geographer, a Sociologist turned Political Scientist, and a Historian think about these issues and the advice they have to offer students at all stages of their research projects. Bring your questions about fieldwork, data-theory connections, interviews, data sets, surveys, etc.

Participants:

Banu Gokariksel, Professor, Geography and Chair, Global Studies

Robert Jenkins, Teaching Professor, Political Science

Uffe Bergeton, Associate Professor, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies
