Christmas Carols and a Story of Resilience

Celebrate the season with a unique evening of music, film, art, and community! Hosted by the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies and Kidzu Children’s Museum, this event brings together the spirit of Christmas and the power of resilience through inspiring stories and timeless melodies.
The event activities feature the following:
Film Screening of Carol of the Bells (Shchedryk)
Begin the evening with Shchedryk, a powerful drama telling the story of three families — Ukrainian, Polish, and Jewish — who find strength and unity amid the trials of war. This film captures the spirit of resilience and hope in the face of adversity. Pre-Screening Talk and Q&A with Marika Kuzma, award-winning author of Carols of Birds, Bells, and Sacred Hymns from Ukraine.
A Cappella Performance of Christmas Carols
Following the film, enjoy a live performance of Carol of the Bells and other classic Christmas carols by the Spivochi Ensemble, filling the room with the heartfelt sounds of the season.
Art Exhibition
Discover an inspiring collection of paintings that echo themes of resilience, community, and cultural heritage.
Seasonal Refreshments
Enjoy a selection of holiday-themed refreshments to make the evening complete.
