Belarus In Revolt • Conversation with Prof. Radislav Lapushin (GSLL)

November 5, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Inspiring and heartbreaking, the news and images of a peaceful popular uprising in Belarus against the despotic rule of Alexander Lukashenko have been on everyone’s mind since August 9th. Join the UNC Russian Flagship Program for a conversation with Professor Radislav Lapushin (Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures), whose intimate and personal perspective on these events will help us develop a better understanding and appreciation of their significance. Registration for the event here.

A native of Belarus, Radislav Lapushin is an associate professor of Russian in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures. Among his publications are Dew on the Grass: The Poetics of Inbetweenness in Chekhov (2010) and Chekhov’s Letters: Biography, Context, Poetics (with Carol Apollonio, 2018). His most recent verse collection is entitled Dog Poetry (2016). Professor Lapushin’s distinguished teaching record at Carolina has been honored with the Chapman Family Award in 2019.
