The Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies (CSEEES) at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill invites applications by advanced PhD students and early career scholars for travel grants to attend the 15th annual Russian American Science Association (RASA) conference on November 16-17, 2024 in Chapel Hill, NC. The conference will be dedicated to Pyotr Leonidovich Kapitsa (9 July 1894 – 8 April 1984), whose 130th birth anniversary we will celebrate this year.

The Center will award two grants of up to $1,500 each to subsidize conference expenses (travel, lodging, etc.) for U.S.-based junior scholars and graduate students in the fields of math, physics, chemistry, biology, and other natural sciences. Applicants do not have to be current members of the association.

The Center is committed to supporting participants of diverse backgrounds and graduate students who have limited institutional resources for travel support.

  • Conference attendance budget

Founded in 1991, the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies (CSEEES) is one of the oldest area studies centers at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
