The three major sections of Sacred Signs represent summer, autumn and winter. The elements of the seasons are each inspired by one of the nine folk tunes Stravinsky used in composing The Rite of Spring and are titled after poems by Nicholas Roerich, designer of the original costumes and set.
Roerich, who is credited with the central creative vision behind The Rite of Spring, spent much of his life traveling through central Asia, a compelling reflection of the legacy of multicultural inspiration at the heart of The Silk Road Ensemble's musical vision.
The concerts will take place Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 7:30pm and Monday, October 1, 2012 at 7:30pm.
Tickets are distributed through Carolina Performing Arts for more information about tickets click here.
Location: Memorial Hall.
